A method comprising the steps of (a) mixing reactive components comprising at least one high molecular weight hydrophilic polymer, at least one low molecular weight hydrophilic polymer having a number average molecular weight of less than about 40,000 daltons, at least one siloxane containing macromer and an effective amount of at least one compatibilizing component;
- (b) curing the product of step (a) in a mold to form a biomedical device and (c) deblocking said biomedical device from said mold.
