- causing, at least in part, a presentation of information objects of a first information display format of an application on a display screen of a device, when the display screen is in a first orientation relative to a user;
receiving an indication that the display screen is in a second orientation different from the first orientation; and
causing, at least in part, a presentation of information objects of a second information display format of the application on the display screen in response to the received indication,wherein the information objects of one of the first and second information display formats include information objects that are not present in the other of the first and second information display formats, andwherein the second information display format reflects a same state of the application as reflected by the first information display format.

A handheld device presents information on a display screen in alternate formats. The device determines its orientation relative to a device user and selects a format based on that orientation. The displayed information may also be scrolled or zoomed based on a detected motion of the device.

a display screen; a movable member coupling the display screen to the apparatus and permitting one or more of a sliding movement and a rotating movement of the display screen relative to other components of the apparatus; at least one processor; and at least one memory including program code for one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following, receive an indication that the sliding member is in a first position corresponding to a horizontal orientation of the display screen relative to a user of the apparatus, cause, at least in part, a presentation of information objects of a horizontal service guide format of an electronic service guide application on the display screen in response to receiving the indication that the sliding member is in the first position, receive an indication that the sliding member is in a second position corresponding to a vertical orientation of the display screen relative to the user of the apparatus, cause, at least in part, a presentation of information objects of a vertical service guide format of the electronic service guide application on the display screen in response to receiving the indication that the sliding member is in the second position, receive an indication that the display screen has been displaced in a first direction relative to a plane of the display screen, and cause, at least in part, in response to the received indication of displacement, a scrolling of the information objects of one of the horizontal and vertical service guide formats presented on the display screen in a direction relative to the first direction, wherein the information objects of one of the horizontal and vertical service guide formats include information objects that are not present in the other of the horizontal and vertical service guide formats, and wherein the vertical service guide format reflects a same state of the electronic service guide application as reflected by the vertical service guide format. - View Dependent Claims (42)
