1. An arrangement constructed and arranged to detect the presence or concentration of an analyte present in bodily fluid, the arrangement comprising:

  • a channel member configured to receive a sample of the bodily fluid from a conduit;

    an assay pad in fluid communication with the channel member, the assay pad containing a reagent;

    a plurality of detectors, each detector constructed and arranged to produce a signal indicative of a reaction between the analyte and the reagent; and

    electronics constructed and arranged to monitor and interpret the signals produced by the plurality of detectors to provide the following outputs;

    (i) an estimate of the volume of the sample received by the channel member based at least in part on the number of detectors that produce a signal indicating a reaction between the analyte and the reagent; and

    (ii) information about the kinetics of the reaction between the analyte and the reagent based at least in part on the time between signals.
