record in a nontransitory machine-readable memory of a computer betting system data describing multiple plays of a sporting event played by respective primary players;
receive selection criteria from a secondary player, the secondary player being a player that did not participate in the recorded plays, and to receive a wager from the secondary player, the selection criteria to specify plays of the sporting event on which to wager, the wager to specify an outcome of plays the meet the selection criteria, and a wager amount;
select one or more plays that match the secondary player'"'"'s selection criteria; and
after playing out the selected play(s), to compute a payout amount to the secondary player based at least in part on the play and on the wager amount.
