1. A method for injecting an agent to a tissue site, comprising:
- measuring an amount of elastic tenting of skin of the body part when a penetrating member depresses the skin in a direction inward below a surface of the skin to determine elasticity of the skin;
storing in a processor the amount of elastic tenting of the skin;
selecting a driver profile from a set of alternative driver profiles stored in the processor that includes elastic tenting of the skin and a depth setting using stored tenting information in the processor, which is dependent on a value of the measured amount of elastic tenting and influences the injection of the agent;
settling at the depth setting for a certain period of dwell time before starting to withdraw from the withdrawal site;
injecting an agent;
wherein the dwell time is related to the amount of elastic tenting of the skin depressed by the penetrating member trying to puncture the surface of the skin and variance in skin deformation.

A penetrating member sensor is coupled to the plurality of penetrating members. The penetrating member sensor is configured to provide information relative to a depth of penetration of a penetrating member through a skin surface.

measuring an amount of elastic tenting of skin of the body part when a penetrating member depresses the skin during a number of agent injections, the elastic skin tenting being in a direction inward below a surface of the skin; storing in a processor the amount of elastic tenting of the skin; selecting a driver profile from a set of alternative driver profiles stored in the processor that includes elastic tenting of the skin; using the penetrating member to create a penetration of the skin to the tissue site in response to the driver profile that is selected from the processor; using the driver profile information that is selected to deliver the agent at the tissue site. - View Dependent Claims (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
