- receiving an electronic loyalty or payment request for a transaction from a user at a payment point of sale device;
directing the loyalty or payment request to a payment gateway;
identifying and authenticating the user in the payment gateway;
applying rules specific to the customer, merchant, store and time and routing the loyalty or payment request to an internal loyalty or payment program stored value or in-house charge and/or to one of a plurality of loyalty and/or payment networks.
