1. A process for producing an analytical test strip having an insulating substrate, wherein the substrate has a layer electrode, the process comprising:
- depositing a metallic layer on the substrate;
forming the layer electrode as a structured surface pattern on the substrate;
depositing a cover layer on the substrate and the layer electrode; and
treating the cover layer with a chemical or physical surface treatment such that the water affinity of the cover layer is increased.
