Abstract

A system, method and media for a service oriented architecture. This description is not intended to be a complete description of, or limit the scope of, the invention. Other features, aspects and objects of the invention can be obtained from a review of the specification, the figures and the claims.

Claims

1. A method for configuring a service proxy, comprising:

obtaining a first representation of the service proxy based on a first state of the service proxy at a first point in time, and wherein the first representation includes a set of components;

performing a plurality of configuration operations on the first representation to create a second representation of the service proxy; and

applying the second representation to a second state of the service proxy at a second point in time wherein the applying places the service proxy in a third state.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the applying includes:

resolving conflicts between the second state and the second representation in favor of one of the following;

the second state and the second representation.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the applying includes:

merging the second representation with the second state.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein the applying includes:

reconfiguring the service proxy based on the second representation.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein a component is one of:

a service definition for the service proxy, a message transformation, a message processing pipeline, a message processing stage in a message processing pipeline, a routing table, a message validation process, a message logging process, a message tracking process, a performance monitor, an error handler, a message authorization process, and a message authentication process.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein:

a component is a resource used to configure the service proxy.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein:

a configuration operation is one of;

deleting a component from the set of components, adding a new component to the set of components, and modifying a component in the set of components.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

presenting the first representation to a user.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

instantiating an interface and/or a protocol capable of modifying the first representation.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein:

the service proxy is an intermediary between a client and one of;

a service and another service proxy.

12. A machine readable medium having instructions stored thereon to cause a system to:

obtain a first representation of a service proxy based on a first state of the service proxy at a first point in time, and wherein the first representation includes a set of components;

perform a plurality of configuration operations on the first representation to create a second representation of the service proxy; and

apply the second representation to a second state of the service proxy at a second point in time wherein the applying places the service proxy in a third state.

13. A system for configuring a service proxy, comprising:

a first representation of the service proxy based on a first state of the service proxy at a first point in time, and wherein the first representation includes a set of components;

a second representation of the service proxy based on applying configuration operations to the first representation;

a component capable of applying the second representation to a second state of the service proxy at a second point in time wherein the applying places the service proxy in a third state.

14. The system of claim 13 wherein the applying includes:

resolving conflicts between the second state and the second representation in favor of one of the following;

the second state and the second representation.

15. The system of claim 13 wherein the applying includes:

merging the second representation with the second state.

16. The system of claim 13 wherein the applying includes:

reconfiguring the service proxy based on the second representation.

17. The system of claim 13 wherein a component is one of:

a service definition for the service proxy, a message transformation, a message processing pipeline, a message processing stage in a message processing pipeline, a routing table, a message validation process, a message logging process, a message tracking process, a performance monitor, an error handler, a message authorization process, and a message authentication process.

18. The system of claim 13 wherein:

a component is a resource used to configure the service proxy.

19. The system of claim 13 wherein:

a configuration operation is one of;

deleting a component from the set of components, adding a new component to the set of components, and modifying a component in the set of components.

20. The system of claim 13, further comprising:

a first representation for a user.

21. The system of claim 13, further comprising:

an interface and/or a protocol capable of modifying the first representation.

22. The system of claim 13 wherein:

the service proxy is an intermediary between a client and one of;

a service and another service proxy.
