Abstract

In one embodiment, a computer-accessible medium having instructions which, when executed on a computer, effectuate redirection of messages between a mail system and a mobile communications device. The computer-accessible medium comprises: program code for determining occurrence of a trigger event configured to control redirection of messages at the mail system with respect to a user; program code for automatically detecting arrival of a new message at the mail system, the new message being addressed to the user; and program code for causing to package an instance of the new message for transmission to the mobile communications device associated with the user.

Claims

1. A computer-accessible medium having instructions which, when executed on a computer, effectuate redirection of messages between a mail system and a mobile communications device, comprising:

program code for determining occurrence of a trigger event configured to control redirection of messages at said mail system with respect to a user;

program code for automatically detecting arrival of a new message at said mail system, said new message being addressed to said user; and

program code for causing to package an instance of said new message for transmission to said mobile communications device associated with said user.

2. The computer-accessible medium as recited in claim 1, wherein said trigger event is configured on a user-by-user basis for a plurality of users served by said mail system, each having a corresponding mobile communications device respectively associated therewith.

3. The computer-accessible medium as recited in claim 1, wherein said trigger event comprises an internal event with respect to a computer associated with said user and coupled to said mail system.

4. The computer-accessible medium as recited in claim 1, wherein said internal event comprises one of a calendar alarm, a screen saver activation, a keyboard timeout indication, a timer indication, and a user-defined event.

5. The computer-accessible medium as recited in claim 1, wherein said trigger event comprises an external event with respect to a computer network in which said mail system is operable.

6. A method of redirecting messages between a mail system and a mobile communications device, comprising:

determining occurrence of a trigger event configured with respect to a user for controlling redirection of messages addressed to said user at said mail system; and

upon automatically detecting arrival of a new message at said mail system for said user, causing to package an instance of said new message for transmission to said mobile communications device associated with said user.

7. The method of redirecting messages as recited in claim 6, wherein said trigger event is configured on a user-by-user basis for a plurality of users served by said mail system, each having a corresponding mobile communications device respectively associated therewith.

8. The method of redirecting messages as recited in claim 7, wherein said trigger event comprises an internal event with respect to a computer associated with said user and coupled to said mail system.

9. The method of redirecting messages as recited in claim 8, wherein said trigger event comprises an external event with respect to a computer network in which said mail system is operable.

10. The method of redirecting messages as recited in claim 9, wherein said trigger event comprises a networked event with respect to a computer network in which said mail system is operable.
