Abstract

A computer-implemented method of interacting with a user, the method involving: enabling a user to post an electronic note with user specified contents; enabling the user to associate the electronic note with a location within a domain with a metric; and publishing the electronic note on a web page that enables people to access its contents.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method of interacting with a user, said method comprising:

enabling a user to post an electronic note with user specified contents;

enabling the user to associate the electronic note with a location within a domain with a metric; and

publishing the electronic note on a web page that enables people to access its contents.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying a multi-dimensional representation of the domain on a display device.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the address of the web page is a URL referring to a host on the Internet.

4. A method for displaying information about documents each of which contains within the document location-related information that identifies a location within a domain, said method comprising:

displaying a multi-dimensional representation of the domain on a display device;

displaying within the representation of the domain that is displayed on the display device a plurality of visual indicators as representations of documents identified by a plurality of document identifiers, wherein each visual indicator of the plurality of visual indicators represents a corresponding different subset of documents among the identified documents and wherein each visual indicator is positioned within the representation of the domain at a coordinate that corresponds to the location-related information for the corresponding subset of documents;

enabling a user to post an electronic note with user specified contents at a selected location within the domain;

after the user has posted the electronic note, displaying the electronic note at a coordinate within the representation of the domain that corresponds to the selected location; and

publishing the electronic note on the web with an externally accessible address which enables other people to access the contents of the electronic note via a web page.
