Abstract

An interactive sports-themed game is disclosed. The game involves generating a list of predicted outcomes of the next play of a live sporting event, ranking the list, selecting one or more of the predicted outcomes to form a subset list. The outcome of the next play of the live sporting event is then compared to the subset list, and the player of the interactive sports-themed game is awarded points if the outcome of the play of the live sporting event matches one of the predictions in the subset list.

Claims

1. An interactive sports-themed game that is played along with a live sporting event, the sports-themed game comprising:

a scorekeeping user interface comprised of a writable medium;

a list displaying a plurality of possible outcomes for a play of the live sporting event,

wherein a player selects of the possible outcomes as a prediction pertaining to the live sporting event; and

means for scoring the prediction.

2. The game of claim 1, wherein the live sporting event is a baseball game.

3. The game of claim 2, wherein the list displaying the plurality of possible outcomes comprises single, double, triple, home run, fly out, ground out, and strike out.

4. The game of claim 3, wherein the list displaying the plurality of possible outcomes further comprises walk, dropped third strike, hit by pitch, pickoff, and stolen base.

5. The game of claim 1, wherein the writable medium is a dry erase board.

6. The game of claim 3, wherein the means for scoring the prediction comprises awarding a point for each correct prediction.

7. The game of claim 3, wherein the means for scoring the prediction comprises:

Determining a probability of occurrence for the prediction

awarding a point value based on the probability for each correct prediction, wherein the probability is inversely related to the point value.

8. The game of claim 2, wherein the list displaying the plurality of possible outcomes further comprises a base value corresponding to each of the possible outcomes.

9. The game of claim 8, wherein the means for scoring the prediction comprises awarding a base position corresponding to the base value of a correct prediction.

10. The game of claim 9, wherein the means for scoring the prediction further comprises advancing the base position to a new base corresponding to the base value of a correct prediction, and awarding a run when the base position advances to home plate.

11. An interactive sports-themed game comprising the steps of:

a) generating a list of predicted outcomes of the next play of a live sporting event;

b) comparing the next play of live sporting event to the list of predicted outcomes; and

c) awarding points if the outcome of the live event matches at least one of the predicted outcomes.

12. An interactive sports-themed game comprising the steps of:

a) generating a list of predicted outcomes of the next play of a live sporting event;

b) ranking the list and selecting at least one of the predicted outcome to form a subset list;

c) comparing the next play of live sporting event to the list of predicted outcomes; and

d) awarding points if the outcome of the live event matches at least one of the predicted outcomes.

13. An interactive sports-themed game comprising the steps of:

a) generating a list of predicted outcomes of the next play of a live sporting event;

b) ranking the list and selecting at least one of the predicted outcome to form a subset list;

c) comparing the next play of live sporting event to the list of predicted outcomes; and

d) awarding points if the outcome of the live event matches at least one of the predicted outcomes said ranking determined by certain criteria such as current batting averages of live participant and batting average against opposing team and opposing pitcher.
