1. A touch interface for a computer comprising:

  • a display screen including a front surface facing a user and a rear surface opposite the front surface, the display screen being adapted to display visually observable data;

    an electro-optical sensor oriented toward the rear surface of the display screen and adapted to detect a first touch input on the front surface of the display screen and a second touch input on the front surface of the display screen, the first touch input and the second touch input being simultaneously in contact with the display screen; and

    processing means connected to the electro-optical sensor for determining a characteristic of each of the first touch input and the second touch input.
