Bandwidth Management In A Network
First Claim
1. A method for adjusting a transmission rate of a network device, comprising:
- transmitting a data stream at a current transmission rate utilizing a first bandwidth allocation, the current transmission rate being less than an original transmission rate;
receiving a transmission rate recovery request from a master device on the network, the transmission rate recovery request instructing the network device to adjust the current transmission rate;
obtaining an additional bandwidth allocation from the master device on the network and responsively increasing the current transmission rate to provide substantially the original transmission rate utilizing a total bandwidth allocation, the total bandwidth allocation including the additional bandwidth allocation and the first bandwidth allocation.

Abstract
A data stream is transmitted at a current transmission rate utilizing a first bandwidth allocation, the current transmission rate being less than an original transmission rate. A transmission rate recovery request is received from a master device on the network. The transmission rate recovery request instructs the network device to adjust the current transmission rate. An additional bandwidth allocation is obtained from the master device on the network and the current transmission rate is responsively increased to provide substantially the original transmission rate utilizing a total bandwidth allocation. The total bandwidth allocation includes the additional bandwidth allocation and the first bandwidth allocation.
