Abstract

Based on usage patterns of clients who have purchased web domain offerings, providing a three dimensional visual representation that uses a visual element to represent the degree of similarity among different offerings.

Claims

1. A method of mapping web site hosting product offerings, comprising:

receiving data representing a plurality of web domain offerings that are available to a plurality of website hosting clients;

receiving website hosting client usage data for a portion of the plurality of web domain offerings;

determining similarity among the plurality of web domain offerings for a plurality of dimensions of similarity based on analysis of the client usage data with a server; and

presenting on an electronic display a portion of the plurality of web domain offerings in a three-dimensional visual representation that uses a visual element to represent a degree of similarity among the portion of the plurality of web domain offerings, wherein the visual element reflects at least one dimension of the plurality of dimensions of similarity.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising presenting a user selector for a dimension of similarity that causes the three-dimensional visual representation to adapt to reflect a dimension of similarity indicated by the user selector.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the three-dimensional visual representation is a three-dimensional map.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the degree of similarity is determined by correlating client profiles among pairs of offerings.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the visual element is distance.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the visual element is object size.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the visual element is text size.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the visual element is a size of an element connecting one offering to another.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the element connecting one offering to another is a directional arrow that is indicative of the degree of similarity.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the three-dimensional visual representation is adapted based on a dimension of similarity.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the dimension of similarity is related to one of a product, a service, and an offering of a common service architecture website hosting service.

12. A method of charting website hosting product offerings, comprising:

receiving data representing a plurality of web domain offerings that are available to a plurality of website hosting clients;

receiving website hosting client usage data for a portion of the plurality of web domain offerings;

determining similarity among the plurality of web domain offerings for a plurality of dimensions of similarity based on analysis of the client usage data with a server; and

presenting on an electronic display a portion of the plurality of web domain offerings in a multi-dimensional table that displays a degree of similarity for each pair of domain offerings in the portion of the plurality of web domain offerings for at least one dimension of the plurality of dimensions of similarity.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the displayed degree of similarity is determined by correlating client profiles among pairs of offerings.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the dimension of similarity is related to one of a product, a service, and an offering of a common service architecture website hosting service.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein determining similarity includes incorporating third-party data.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the third-party data includes at least one of unemployment data, interest rate data, macroeconomic data.

17. A method of augmenting web domain offering similarity determination, comprising:

determining similarity among a plurality of web domain offerings based on a multi-dimensional comparison of website hosting client usage data; and

augmenting the determined similarity based on a third-party data impact on the website hosting client usage data.
