Abstract

A digital camera is provided having an image sensor for imaging a scene, a processor for processing the imaged scene in accordance with a programmable scene transformation requirement, and a printer having a consumables cartridge and a printhead for printing the processed scene directly from the processor onto print media of the cartridge.

Claims

1. A digital camera comprising:

an image sensor for imaging a scene;

a processor for processing the imaged scene in accordance with a programmable scene transformation requirement; and

a printer having a consumables cartridge and a printhead for printing the processed scene directly from the processor onto print media of the cartridge.

2. A camera as claimed in claim 1 wherein the cartridge has an authentication circuit containing authentication information and the processor interrogates the authentication information to determine the authenticity of the cartridge upon insertion into the camera.

3. A camera as claimed in claim 1 wherein the printer is a drop on demand inkjet printer.

4. A portable hand held camera as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a guillotine for the separation of the printed print meda from the print media of the cartridge.

5. A camera as claimed in claim 1 wherein the image senor comprises two area image sensors, the processor derives a stereoscopic image from the images sensed by the area image sensors, and the printer prints the stereoscopic image onto the print media so as to produce a three dimensional effect.
