- recording a user input from a sensor on a remote device;
associating the recorded user input with a specific command;
storing the command-input association;

transmitting the user input from the remote device to a base device;
receiving at the base device the user input transmitted from the remote device;
comparing the input with the previously recorded inputs for association with a command specific to an application running on or accessible by the base device;
matching the user input to the desired command; and
executing the command.
