Abstract

Provided are embodiments of systems, computer medium and computer-implemented methods for a computer mouse for sensing health characteristics of a user. A computer mouse including a location sensor adapted to sense movement of the computer mouse, a temperature sensor adapted to sense a body temperature of the user, a blood condition sensor adapted to sense a blood saturation level of the user, and a blood pressure sensor adapted to sense a blood pressure of the user. The computer mouse including a controller to transmit location data corresponding to the sensed movement of the computer mouse, temperature data corresponding to the sensed body temperature, blood condition data corresponding to the sensed blood saturation level, and blood pressure data corresponding to the sensed blood pressure, to a computer workstation for determining movement of the mouse and body temperature, blood saturation level, and the blood pressure of the user.

Claims

1. A computer mouse for sensing health characteristics of a user, the computer mouse comprising:

a computer mouse controller;

a computer mouse body;

a location sensor configured to sense movement of the computer mouse relative to a work surface on which the computer mouse is located, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit location data corresponding to the sensed movement of the computer mouse to a computer workstation for use in determining movement of the mouse;

a temperature sensor configured to sense a body temperature of the user, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit temperature data corresponding to the sensed body temperature to the computer workstation for use in determining the body temperature of the user;

a blood condition sensor configured to sense a blood saturation level of the user, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit blood condition data corresponding to the sensed blood saturation level to the computer workstation for use in determining the blood saturation level of the user; and

a blood pressure sensor configured to sense a blood pressure of the user, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit blood pressure data corresponding to the sensed blood pressure to the computer workstation for use in determining the blood pressure of the user.

2. A computer mouse according to claim 1, wherein the temperature sensor is disposed on an exterior surface of the computer mouse body such that the user'"'"'s body temperature is sensed by the temperature sensor when the user grasps an exterior of the computer mouse.

3. A computer mouse according to claim 1, wherein the blood condition sensor comprises a pulse oximeter sensor.

4. A computer mouse according to claim 1, wherein the blood pressure sensor comprises a blood pressure cuff.

5. A computer mouse according to claim 4, wherein the blood pressure cuff is configured to communicate wirelessly with the computer mouse controller.

6. A computer mouse according to claim 4, wherein the blood pressure cuff comprises an air bladder and a pump that is configured to inflate the air bladder, and wherein the blood pressure cuff is not physically tethered to the mouse body.

7. A computer mouse according to claim 4, wherein the computer mouse body comprises a pump disposed therein, wherein the blood pressure cuff comprises an air bladder that is coupled to the pump via a conduit, and wherein the pump is configured to inflate the air bladder via the conduit.

8. A computer mouse according to claim 1, wherein the computer mouse controller is configured to:

receive a request for health data from the computer workstation; and

in response to receiving a request for health data from the computer workstation;

collect the temperature data from the temperature sensor, the blood condition data from the blood condition sensor, and the blood pressure data from the blood pressure sensor; and

transmit, to the computer workstation, health data corresponding to the temperature data, the blood condition data, and the blood pressure data for use in determining the body temperature, the blood saturation level, and the blood pressure of the user.

9. A computer mouse for sensing health characteristics of a user, the computer mouse comprising:

a computer mouse controller;

a computer mouse body;

a location sensor configured to sense movement of the computer mouse relative to a work surface on which the computer mouse is located, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit location data corresponding to the sensed movement of the computer mouse to a computer workstation for use in determining movement of the mouse;

a temperature sensor configured to sense a body temperature of the user, the temperature sensor being disposed on an exterior surface of the computer mouse body such that the user'"'"'s body temperature is sensed by the temperature sensor when the employee grasps an exterior of the computer mouse, and the computer mouse controller configured to transmit temperature data corresponding to the sensed body temperature to the computer workstation for use in determining the body temperature of the user;

a blood condition sensor configured to sense a blood saturation level of the user, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit blood condition data corresponding to the sensed blood saturation level to the computer workstation for use in determining the blood saturation level of the user; and

a blood pressure sensor comprising a blood pressure cuff configured to sense a blood pressure of the user, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit blood pressure data corresponding to the sensed blood pressure to the computer workstation for use in determining the blood pressure of the user.

10. A computer mouse according to claim 9, wherein the blood condition sensor comprises a pulse oximeter sensor.

11. A computer mouse according to claim 9, wherein the blood pressure cuff is configured to communicate wirelessly with the computer mouse controller.

12. A computer mouse according to claim 9, wherein the blood pressure cuff comprises an air bladder and a pump that is configured to inflate the air bladder, and wherein the blood pressure cuff is not physically tethered to the mouse body.

13. A computer mouse according to claim 9, wherein the computer mouse body comprises a pump disposed therein, wherein the blood pressure cuff comprises an air bladder that is coupled to the pump via a conduit, and wherein the pump is configured to inflate the air bladder via the conduit.

14. A computer mouse according to claim 9, wherein the computer mouse controller is configured to:

receive a request for health data from the computer workstation; and

in response to receiving a request for health data from the computer workstation;

collect the temperature data from the temperature sensor, the blood condition data from the blood condition sensor, and the blood pressure data from the blood pressure sensor; and

transmit, to the computer workstation, health data corresponding to the temperature data, the blood condition data, and the blood pressure data for use in determining the body temperature, the blood saturation level, and the blood pressure of the user.

15. A computer mouse for sensing health characteristics of a user, the computer mouse comprising:

a computer mouse controller;

a computer mouse body;

a location sensor configured to sense movement of the computer mouse relative to a work surface on which the computer mouse is located, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit location data corresponding to the sensed movement of the computer mouse to a computer workstation for use in determining movement of the mouse;

a temperature sensor configured to sense a body temperature of the user, the temperature sensor being disposed on an exterior surface of the computer mouse body such that the user'"'"'s body temperature is sensed by the temperature sensor when the employee grasps an exterior of the computer mouse, and the computer mouse controller configured to transmit temperature data corresponding to the sensed body temperature to the computer workstation for use in determining the body temperature of the user;

a blood condition sensor configured to sense a blood saturation level of the user, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit blood condition data corresponding to the sensed blood saturation level to the computer workstation for use in determining the blood saturation level of the user; and

a blood pressure sensor comprising a blood pressure cuff configured to sense a blood pressure of the user, the computer mouse controller configured to transmit blood pressure data corresponding to the sensed blood pressure to the computer workstation for use in determining the blood pressure of the user,

the computer mouse controller being configured to;

receive a request for health data from the computer workstation; and

in response to receiving a request for health data from the computer workstation;

collect the temperature data from the temperature sensor, the blood condition data from the blood condition sensor, and the blood pressure data from the blood pressure sensor; and

transmit, to the computer workstation, health data corresponding to the temperature data, the blood condition data, and the blood pressure data for use in determining the body temperature, the blood saturation level, and the blood pressure of the user.

16. A computer mouse according to claim 15, wherein the blood condition sensor comprises a pulse oximeter sensor.

17. A computer mouse according to claim 15, wherein the blood pressure cuff is configured to communicate wirelessly with the computer mouse controller.

18. A computer mouse according to claim 15, wherein the blood pressure cuff comprises an air bladder and a pump that is configured to inflate the air bladder, and wherein the blood pressure cuff is not physically tethered to the mouse body.

19. A computer mouse according to claim 15, wherein the computer mouse body comprises a pump disposed therein, wherein the blood pressure cuff comprises an air bladder that is coupled to the pump via a conduit, and wherein the pump is configured to inflate the air bladder via the conduit.

20. A computer mouse according to claim 15, wherein the computer mouse body comprise an articulatable cover that can be opened to expose the blood condition sensor and closed to enclose the blood condition sensor.
