Abstract

Various embodiments of a wireless connector system are described. The system has a transmitter module and a receiver module that are configured to wirelessly transmit electrical energy and/or data via near field magnetic coupling. The wireless connector system is designed to increase the amount of wirelessly transmitted electrical power over a greater separation distance. The system is configured with various sensing circuits that alert the system to the presence of the receiver module to begin transfer of electrical power as well as undesirable objects and increased temperature that could interfere with the operation of the system. The wireless connector system is a relatively small foot print that is designed to be surface mounted.

Claims

1. A receiver circuit, configured to receive a wireless signal, the receiver circuit comprising:

a) a receiver antenna configured to receive a wireless signal;

b) a receiver master control sub-circuit comprising a master control unit;

c) an electrical impedance matching sub-circuit electrically connected to the receiver antenna, wherein the electrical impedance matching sub-circuit comprises at least one capacitor, and wherein the electrical impedance matching sub-circuit is configured to prepare the wireless signal received by the receiver circuit for use by an electrically connectable electrical device; and

d) a voltage regulator sub-circuit electrically connected to the receiver master control sub-circuit.

The receiver circuit of claim 1 further comprising a thermal sense sub-circuit electrically connected to the electrical impedance matching sub-circuit and the receiver master control sub-circuit, wherein the thermal sense sub-circuit is configured to detect and measure a temperature of the receiver circuit.

3. The receiver circuit of claim 1 further configured to receive and demodulate a transmitter module signal.

4. The receiver circuit of claim 3 wherein transmitter module signal comprises an electrical voltage, an electrical current, or combination thereof.

5. The receiver circuit of claim 1 further configured to modulate and transmit a receiver module signal.

6. The receiver circuit of claim 5 wherein the receiver module signal comprises an electrical voltage, an electrical current, or combination thereof.

7. The receiver circuit of claim 1 further comprising a housing, wherein the receiver circuit is encased within the housing.

8. The receiver circuit of claim 7 wherein an electrically insulating material encapsulates the housing.

9. The receiver circuit of claim 1 wherein the wireless signal comprises an electrical voltage, an electrical current, or combination thereof.

10. The receiver circuit of claim 1 wherein the wireless signal received by the receiver circuit is transmitted via magnetic near field coupling.

11. The receiver circuit of claim 1 further comprising a voltage doubler sub-circuit, wherein the voltage doubler sub-circuit is electrically connected to the electrical impedance matching sub-circuit and the voltage regulator sub-circuit.

12. The receiver circuit of claim 1 wherein the receiver antenna is constructed comprising a plurality of conductors and at least one insulator positioned between each of the plurality of conductors, the plurality of conductors having at least one turn.

13. The receiver circuit of claim 1 further comprising a rectifying sub-circuit, wherein the rectifying sub-circuit is electrically connected to the electrical impedance matching sub-circuit.

14. The receiver circuit of claim 1 wherein the electrical impedance matching sub-circuit comprises at least one shunt capacitor.
