Abstract

A transmitting method for enabling transmission of a visible light signal in short time includes: determining a pattern of change in luminance of the light emitter by modulating a signal; and transmitting the visible light signal by changing luminance of a red color represented by a light source according to the determined pattern. The visible light signal includes data, a preamble, and a payload. In the data, a first luminance value and a second luminance value appear along a time axis. In the payload, the first luminance value and the second luminance value appear alternately along the time axis, each of a time length in which the first luminance value is maintained and a time length in which the second luminance value is maintained is greater than a first predetermined value and is determined in accordance with the signal and a predetermined method.

Claims

1. A transmitting method for transmitting a visible light signal by changing luminance of a light emitter, the transmitting method comprising:

determining a pattern of change in luminance of the light emitter by modulating a signal; and

transmitting the visible light signal by changing luminance of a red color represented by a light source included in the light emitter according to the determined pattern,

wherein the visible light signal includes data, a preamble, and a payload,

in the data, a first luminance value and a second luminance value less than the first luminance value appear along a time axis, and a time length in which at least one of the first luminance value and the second luminance value is maintained is less than or equal to a first predetermined value,

in the preamble, the first luminance value and the second luminance value appear alternately along the time axis, and

in the payload, the first luminance value and the second luminance value appear alternately along the time axis, each of a time length in which the first luminance value is maintained and a time length in which the second luminance value is maintained is greater than the first predetermined value and is determined in accordance with the signal and a predetermined method.

2. The transmitting method according to claim 1,

wherein in the payload, luminance values appear in an order of the first luminance value which has a first time length, the second luminance value which has a second time length, the first luminance value which has a third time length, and the second luminance value which has a fourth time length,

in the transmitting, a value of a current that flows to the light source is increased more when a sum of the first time length and the third time length is less than a second predetermined value than when a sum of the first time length and the third time length is greater than the second predetermined value, and

the second predetermined value is greater than the first predetermined value.

3. The transmitting method according to claim 1,

wherein in the payload:

luminance values appear in an order of the first luminance value which has a first time length D₀, the second luminance value which has a second time length D₁, the first luminance value which has a third time length D₂, and the second luminance value which has a fourth time length D₃; and

when a total sum of four parameters y_k obtained from the signal is less than or equal to a third predetermined value, k being 0, 1, 2, and 3,

each of the first to fourth time lengths D₀ to D₃ is determined according to D_k=W₀+W₁×

y_k, W₀ and W₁ being each an integer greater than or equal to 0.

4. The transmitting method according to claim 3,

wherein when a total sum of the four parameters y_k is less than or equal to the third predetermined value, k being 0, 1, 2, and 3,

in the transmitting, the data, the preamble, and the payload are transmitted in an order of the data, the preamble, and the payload.

5. The transmitting method according to claim 3,

wherein when a total sum of the four parameters y_k is greater than the third predetermined value, k being 0, 1, 2, and 3,

the first to fourth time length D₀ to D₃ are respectively determined according to:

6. The transmitting method according to claim 5,

wherein when a total sum of the four parameters y_k is greater than the third predetermined value, k being 0, 1, 2, and 3,

in the transmitting, the data, the preamble, and the payload are transmitted in an order of the payload, the preamble, and the data.

7. The transmitting method according to claim 1,

wherein the light emitter includes a plurality of light sources including a red light source, a blue light source, and a green light source, and

in the transmitting, the visible light signal is transmitted using only the red light source from among the plurality of light sources.

8. A transmitting apparatus which transmits a visible light signal by changing luminance of a light emitter, the transmitting apparatus comprising:

a determination unit configured to determine a pattern of change in luminance of the light emitter by modulating a signal; and

a transmission unit configured to transmit the visible light signal by changing luminance of a red color represented by a light source included in the light emitter according to the determined pattern,

wherein the visible light signal includes data, a preamble, and a payload,

in the data, a first luminance value and a second luminance value less than the first luminance value appear along a time axis, and a time length in which at least one of the first luminance value and the second luminance value is maintained is less than or equal to a first predetermined value,

in the preamble, the first luminance value and the second luminance value appear alternately along the time axis, and

in the payload, the first luminance value and the second luminance value appear alternately along the time axis, each of a time length in which the first luminance value is maintained and a time length in which the second luminance value is maintained is greater than the first predetermined value and is determined in accordance with the signal and a predetermined method.

9. A program for transmitting a visible light signal by changing luminance of a light emitter, the program causing a computer to execute:

determining a pattern of change in luminance of the light emitter by modulating a signal; and

transmitting the visible light signal by changing luminance of a red color represented by a light source included in the light emitter according to the determined pattern,

wherein the visible light signal includes data, a preamble, and a payload,

in the data, a first luminance value and a second luminance value less than the first luminance value appear along a time axis, and a time length in which at least one of the first luminance value and the second luminance value is maintained is less than or equal to a first predetermined value,

in the preamble, the first luminance value and the second luminance value appear alternately along the time axis, and

in the payload, the first luminance value and the second luminance value appear alternately along the time axis, each of a time length in which the first luminance value is maintained and a time length in which the second luminance value is maintained is greater than the first predetermined value and is determined in accordance with the signal and a predetermined method.
