Abstract

A system and method including an Internet preordering system accessible online or onsite at a free-standing kiosk located in or near client properties in which customers may create profiles for the requested services and provide such information to the service provider in advance of the customer'"'"'s arrival for the requested services. When the customer arrives, the customer identifies himself/herself and the preorder is accessed, verified and/or modified. The preorder is then forwarded to the service provider and the delivery of the service is optimally timed to the readiness of the customer. The customer'"'"'s profile and preorder information are maintained in a database and used for in-house precision marketing campaigns and cross-promotional opportunities. For example, in a restaurant embodiment, a registered customer is given access to menus and may create menu preferences for a participating restaurant. The registered customer may also make a reservation at a participating restaurant for a party of any size in advance (for example, up to 24 hours) of the reservation time. The food and/or drink preorder for each guest in the party may be completed in advance and maintained on the server, with the reservation time, for access when the party arrives at the designated reservation time. After a verification process, the customer may retrieve the party'"'"'s preorder, make any desired changes, and then verify the preorder at the kiosk. Once the preorder is verified, the customer may finalize the preorder and proceed to the hostess kiosk where the preorder is accessed by the restaurant staff. Either when the party is seated or at an appropriate time prior to seating (based on a comparison of the seating wait queue to the kitchen wait queue), the preorder is forwarded for preparation so that the ordered food and/or drink arrives shortly after the customer'"'"'s party is seated.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for improving order fulfillment and payment process at a restaurant, shopping, travel, hospitality, or entertainment venue, comprising:

receiving from a customer, via Internet or other means of establishing a communications link between the computers, prior to arrival at said venue, a reservation including a preorder of the products and/or services, payment options, gifting options, and/or special offers the customer wishes to receive upon arrival at said venue;

customer approving said contents of the reservation;

prompting the customer for payment authorization;

storing in the database a record of the customer'"'"'s preferences and/or purchases in a customer profile; and

forwarding the reservation to a vendor queue to complete delivery of products and/or services at or by said restaurant, shopping, travel, hospitality, or entertainment venue.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the customer profile stored in the database includes at least the customer'"'"'s preferences and/or purchases, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers for restaurant, shopping, travel, hospitality, or entertainment venue, and/or combinations thereof.

The method of claim 2, wherein the customer profile is linked to a unique customer identifier comprising of a customer mobile device, biometric scan, an access card, a retinal scan, a password, profile name, biometric identification data, email address, some other unique identification, and/or RFID and access to the customer profile is denied without said unique customer identifier.

The method of claim 1, further comprising a check-in process including the steps of identifying a customer and last minute opportunities for said customer, said last minute opportunities including special purchase offers sent to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s profile, and using a customer mobile device and application program, third party service, and/or device to populate a message or sounder.

The method of claim 1, further comprising a verification process including the steps of identifying a customer with a customer profile and/or a preorder, and using a customer'"'"'s mobile device and a GPS satellite connection and/or identifying application program or like feature and/or device associated with the selected vendor;

to validate that the customer has entered an area associated with the selected vendor.

The method of claim 5, further comprising the customer preorder populating using vendor application or third party service to present said payment options, gifting options, and/or special offers to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s GPS location as determined by the GPS satellite connection and/or identifying application program or like feature and/or device.

The method of claim 6, comprising the further step of allowing a vendor or third party service to use the customer profile with the location of the customer to generate a message or sounder notification to populate the customer'"'"'s mobile device regarding special offers for the restaurant, shopping, travel, and/or entertainment venue and/or special marketing offers in the vicinity of the customer.

8. The method of claim 6, comprising the further step of populating a video demo and/or advertising or like communication message to a customer'"'"'s mobile device, a vendor point of sale (POS) register and/or vendor kiosk, and/or a vendor computer.

The method of claim 1, further comprising using the customer'"'"'s profile in precision marketing to the customer'"'"'s mobile device, a vendor point of sale (POS) register and/or vendor kiosk, and/or a vendor computer and/or providing discount offers, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s profile.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising selecting at least a portion of the preorder and/or offers of products and/or services from a list of favorite menu items off of a menu of offers, customer purchases, and/or customer payment options.

11. The method of claim 1, further comprising allowing access to orders and/or events, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers when the customer enters an area associated with the selected vendor.

The method of claim 11, wherein the orders and/or events, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers are accessed by the customer and the presence of at least one member of a party at the venue is validated, using a customer mobile device, touch screen device, kiosk, or computer terminal located at or near the venue, and the contents of the reservation are modified and/or approved and confirmed by said at least one member of the party.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the reservation is created or accessed by the customer accessing a vendor touch screen device, kiosk, or computer terminal located at or near the restaurant, shopping, travel, or entertainment venue.

The method of claim 13, further comprising selecting at least a portion of the preorder and/or offers of products and/or services from a list of favorite menu items, menu of offers, customer purchases, and/or customer payment options at or near the venue for at least one member of the party, and said confirmed order is approved and sent to a vendor system queue for settlement of the customer'"'"'s payment account and updating of the customer profile.

The method of claim 12, wherein the party pays for the order, the database is updated to prompt payment options, including any special offers or discount opportunities, and payment is provided using a customer mobile device, a vendor point of sale (POS) register, vendor kiosk, and/or a vendor computer and payment is settled by communicating payment authorization and populating the customer mobile device, vendor point of sale (POS) register, vendor kiosk, and/or vendor computer for delivery of products and/or services and the customer profile is updated.

16. A computer-implemented system that improves order fulfillment and payment process at a restaurant, shopping, travel, hospitality, or entertainment venue, comprising:

a customer mobile device;

a vendor point of sale (POS) register and/or vendor kiosk; and

a vendor computer comprising;

a processor, a database, and a memory that stores instructions that when executed by the processor cause the processor to perform the steps of;

the vendor computer receiving from a customer, via Internet or other means of establishing a communications link between the computers, prior to the customer'"'"'s arrival at said venue,

a reservation including a preorder of the products and/or services, payment options, gifting options;

upon approval of the contents of the reservation by the customer;

prompting the customer for payment authorization;

storing in the database a record of the customer'"'"'s preferences and/or purchases in a customer profile; and

forwarding the reservation to a vendor management system queue of the vendor computer to complete delivery of products and/or services at or by said restaurant, shopping, travel, hospitality, or entertainment venue.

The system of claim 16, wherein the customer profile stored in the database includes at least the customer'"'"'s preferences and/or purchases, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers for restaurant, shopping, travel, hospitality, or entertainment venue, and/or combinations thereof.

The system of claim 17, wherein the customer profile is linked to a unique customer identifier comprising of a customer mobile device, biometric scan, an access card, a retinal scan, a password, profile name, biometric identification data, email address, some other unique identification, and/or RFID and access to the customer profile is denied without said unique customer identifier.

The system of claim 16, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for implementing a check-in process that identifies a customer and last minute opportunities for said customer, said last minute opportunities including special purchase offers sent to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s profile, and using a customer mobile device and application program, third party service, and/or device to populate a message or sounder.

The system of claim 16, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for implementing a verification process that identifies a customer with a customer profile and/or a preorder, and uses a customer'"'"'s mobile device and a GPS satellite connection and/or identifying application program and/or a device associated with the selected vendor to validate that the customer has entered an area associated with the vendor.

The system of claim 20, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for populating the customer'"'"'s mobile device to present said payment options, gifting options, and/or special offers to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s GPS location as determined by the GPS satellite connection and/or identifying application program or like feature and/or device.

The system of claim 21, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for allowing a vendor or third party service to use the customer profile with the location of the customer to generate a message or sounder notification to populate the customer'"'"'s mobile device regarding special offers for a restaurant, shopping, travel, hospitality and/or entertainment venue and/or special marketing offers in the vicinity of the customer.

23. The system of claim 21, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for populating a video demo and/or advertising communication message to a customer'"'"'s mobile device relating to reservation and/or articles or services available for purchase in a vicinity of the customer.

The system of claim 16, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for using the customer'"'"'s profile in precision marketing to the customer'"'"'s mobile device, the vendor'"'"'s point of sale (POS) register and/or vendor kiosk, and/or providing discount offers, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers to the customer based on the customer'"'"'s profile.

25. The system of claim 16, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for selecting at least a portion of the preorder and/or offers of products and/or services from a list of favorite menu items off of a menu of offers, customer purchases, and/or customer payment options.

26. The system of claim 16, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for allowing access to orders and/or events, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers when the customer enters an area associated with the selected vendor.

The system of claim 26, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for allowing access to the orders and/or events, payment and/or gifting options, and/or special offers by the customer and for validating the presence of at least one member of a party at the venue using a customer mobile device, touch screen device, kiosk, or computer terminal located at or near the venue, and the contents of the reservation are modified and/or approved and confirmed by said at least one member of the party.

28. The system of claim 16, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for creating the reservation and/or for enabling the customer to access a vendor touch screen device, kiosk, or computer terminal located at or near the restaurant, shopping, travel, or entertainment venue.

The system of claim 28, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for selecting at least a portion of the preorder and/or offers of products and/or services from a list of favorite menu items, menu of offers, customer purchases, and/or customer payment options at or near the venue for at least one member of the party, and said confirmed order is approved and sent to a vendor system queue for settlement of the customer'"'"'s payment account and updating of the customer profile.

The system of claim 27, wherein the vendor computer further processes instructions for enabling the party to pay for the order, to update the database to prompt payment options, including any special offers or discount opportunities, to provide payment using a customer mobile device, vendor point of sale (POS) register and/or vendor kiosk, by communicating payment authorization and to populate the customer mobile device and/or vendor point of sale (POS) register and/or vendor kiosk for delivery of products and/or services, and to update the customer profile.
