Acacia’s Labyrinth Optical Sues Ciena

Labyrinth Optical Technologies [NPE], a subsidiary of Acacia Research, filed suit against Ciena Communications, alleging that Ciena’s ActivFlex 6500 Packet-Optical Platform infringes two patents related to optical communications.  In May 2012, Labyrinth Optical filed its first patent infringement suit against Alcatel-Lucent.  This is the second patent infringement lawsuit filed by Labyrinth Optical Technologies.  The patents were originally assigned to Teradvance Communications, and the assignment to Acacia/Labyrinth has yet to be recorded by the PTO.  8/13, Central District of California, assigned to Judge Cormac J. Carney and referred to Magistrate Judge Marc L. Goldman, 8:2012cv01309.
