Joao Control and Monitoring Systems [NPE] filed suit against Smartvue, alleging that Smartvue’s servers and related services (Cloudvue and InsightServer) infringe a patent related to remotely controlling video cameras for surveillance and monitoring.  Joao Control and Monitoring has filed ten prior suits since 2009 against more than 30 defendants, and has been subject to one action for declaratory judgment.  The patent-in-suit was issued to inventor Raymond Joao in October 2007 before being assigned to Joao Control and Monitoring Systems in December 2008.  4/26, Central District of California, Judge Christina A.
