Floridian Rothschild Continues to Mess with Texas

August 25, 2016

Prolific inventor and plaintiff Leigh M. Rothschild has now asserted one of his 80+ patents (8,437,797) under the ownership of a third entity in just two years. The ‘797 patent issued to Rothschild in May 2013 as part of a family of five (8,204,437; 8,594,722; 8,798,544; 8,897,833) and generally relates to wireless exchange of digital images between devices. It has a relatively short but complicated litigation history, having been asserted for the first time in litigation by Rothschild Storage Retrieval Innovations, LLC (RSRI), a Florida entity, in July 2014 before the inventor recorded a transfer of rights to a new plaintiff called Texas Patent Imaging LLC, which pled existence in Texas without ever having registered to conduct business in the state. These moves appear to be part of a general shift in Rothschild’s enforcement strategy toward Texas.
