Wrinkl Sues Slack over Threaded Messaging Functionalities

Inventor-controlled Wrinkl, Inc. has filed a second complaint in its sole litigation campaign, launched in October 2020 with a case against Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp), this time suing Salesforce (Slack Technologies) (1:24-cv-00620), again in the District of Delaware. At issue is a single patent, asserted in litigation for the first time and broadly directed to a “group-based communication system”. The defendant is accused of infringement through the provision of the Slack messaging platform, with features concerning threaded messaging and related user interface (UI) functionalities at issue.

Wrinkl Sues Facebook in Delaware
New Patent Litigation
Wrinkl, billing itself as providing “team messaging designed for business”, has sued Facebook (Instagram, WhatsApp) (1:20-cv-01345) over two patents generally related to “referencing a message” by forming a “link” to the message with a response message. The new complaint, filed in the District of Delaware, targets the provision of certain features, such as swipe-to-reply (for replying to specific messages within a chat), within Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp Messenger, the Instagram app, and Facebook Workplace Chat.
