Since Ozmo Licensing LLC filed its first lawsuit this past April—asserting four patents from a networking family against HP—a new member has issued. Ozmo Licensing Bares Its Talons in Harfang IP’s First Suit, Against HP
New Patent Litigation
In its new complaint against HP (6:21-cv-00383), Ozmo Licensing LLC targets with two patents the provision of Wi-Fi enabled products—specifically, “numerous wireless devices, including laptop computers, desktop computers, printers and monitors”, which the plaintiff pleads that “Wi-Fi protocols allow . . . to act as a hub to receive, for example, images from an IEEE 802.11 access point and to forward such images to a second device using Wi-Fi Direct”. The complaint is the first filed by the plaintiff, which is associated with monetization firm Harfang IP Investment Corp. Ozmo Licensing indicates that it “is working to widely and reasonably license its current patent portfolio” and to “concomitantly pursu[e] related patent applications”, both “with the support of” the asserted patents’ named inventors.

Texas Monetization Firm, Arising from Longhorn IP’s Split, Looks Ready to Litigate
Patent Market, Patent Watch
Public records suggest that litigation may be coming from Ozmo Licensing LLC (f/k/a Sonic Wave LLC), a Texas entity identified as a “current investment” on the website of Harfang IP Investment Corp. As recently reported by RPX, Longhorn IP LLC’s cofounder, Christian (“Chris”) Dubuc, is leaving that firm three years after its formation and has changed the name of an existing Texas entity under his control to Harfang IP. Meanwhile, newly released assignment records reveal that in November 2019, Ozmo Licensing expanded its patent holdings with additional pickups from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV).
