In Display Vectors Campaign, LG Electronics Case Is Dismissed, New Case Against Acer Added

Earlier in June, Display Vectors, LLC hit Jazzy Electronics (Sound Around) in the Eastern District of New York; HP and LG Electronics (LGE) in the Western District of Texas; and Lenovo in the District of Delaware. The LGE case has already been dismissed without prejudice, replaced by a West Texas suit filed last week against Acer (6:21-cv-00614). Where three patents are asserted across all cases in the campaign, Acer is accused of infringing only the one generally related to a portable computer with a hinged display and a keyboard built into the base.

Display Vectors Tags More Defendants over Former IV Patents
New Patent Litigation
Display Vectors, LLC has expanded what appears to be its sole litigation campaign, filing suit against Jazzy Electronics (Sound Around) (1:21-cv-03230) in the Eastern District of New York; HP (6:21-cv-00573) and LG Electronics (LGE) (6:21-cv-00572) in the Western District of Texas; and Lenovo (1:21-cv-00828) in the District of Delaware. The new complaints respectively target with three patents acquired from Intellectual Ventures LLC (IV) the hinge assembly, the double-sided display, and touch screen interface adjustments in laptops, smartphones, and/or other devices.

Patents Developed by Major Operating Companies Appear Among Recently Recorded NPE Assignments

Several patent assignments made public by the USPTO last month suggest that multiple new NPE campaigns asserting former operating company patents are in the works. The portfolios now in NPE hands include patents originating with Chungwa Picture Tubes, IBM, L3Harris, Motorola, Olympus, Polaroid, Rockwell Automation, Samsung, and Sanyo, among others.
