PJC Logistic’s CodePro Sues Safeway over POS Discounts

July 26, 2012

CodePro Innovations [NPE] filed suit against Safeway for alleging that Safeway’s loyalty card and discount reward programs infringe two patents related to point-of-sale discount codes.   CodePro previously filed one patent infringement suit in June 2011 against Blockbuster, JC Penney, Kohl’s and Redbox over the same patents-in-suit.  Excentus filed an action for declaratory judgment against CodePro in June 2012.  The patents were issued to Codesaver International, which assigned them to patent investment entity Mount Hamilton Partners in July 2006.  Mount Hamilton Partners later assigned the patents-in-suit to I2Z Technology in December 2010 before I2Z transferred them to CodePro in February 2011. According to a corporate disclosure statement CodePro’s patent company is PJC Logistics. 7/23, District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv00970.
