- November 22, 2011
Impulse Technology filed suit against Electronic Arts, Konami, Majesco, Namco, Nintendo, THQ, and Ubisoft, alleging that defendants’ games for the Nintendo Wii infringe infringe a patent related to a monitoring system that measures physiological exertion with interactive video capabilities. In July 2011, Impulse Technology filed one prior suit against eight defendants including Electronic Arts, Microsoft and Sega. The patent-in-suit was issued to inventor, Jon W. Erickson, and originated with Arena, Inc. before being assigned to Impulse Technology in December 2003. RPX initially reviewed the patent in May 2010 along with a larger set of patents as an open market opportunity, “Trazer”. Seller was seeking mid seven figures for the entire portfolio. 11/18, Northern District of Ohio, 1:2011cv02519.
