USB Charging Campaign Hits LG Electronics in North Texas

April 21, 2022

Sued this past week in the Northern District of Texas, LG Electronics (LGE) (3:22-cv-00884) has become the second defendant in the litigation campaign of Comarco Wireless Systems LLC (CWS). The plaintiff asserts the same three patents—generally related to suppling power to a portable electronic device—at issue in its June-to-November 2021 case against Samsung, now dismissed with prejudice from the Eastern District of Texas. Per Local Rules 3 and 7, the Northern District of Texas requires plaintiffs to identify “a complete list of all persons, associations of persons, firms, partnerships, corporations, guarantors, insurers, affiliates, parent or subsidiary corporations, or other legal entities that are financially interested in the outcome of the case”. CWS, however, has filed a disclosure indicating only that it has no “parent corporation” and “that no publicly held corporation owns 10% or more of its stock”. Whether properly characterized as a “parent corporation”, AppBrilliance, Inc. is identified in Texas state records as CWS’s managing member.
