Inventor-controlled RJ Technology LLC has begun litigating what appears to be its sole patent asset, suing Apple (8:22-cv-01874) in the Central District of California and Samsung (2:22-cv-00401) in the Eastern District of Texas. The patent generally relates to a “secondary” lithium-ion cell or battery, with infringement allegations in the complaint targeting the provision of certain smartphones (various iPhone and Galaxy-series devices, respectively), tablets (iPad and Galaxy Tab), smartwatches (Apple Watch, Gear, and Galaxy Watch), and Bluetooth earbuds/headphones (AirPods and Galaxy Buds) that incorporate rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
