Advanced Optical Tracking Sues Hitachi, Imation, Maxell, and Panasonic
Advanced Optical Tracking filed three separate suits against Hitachi Maxell, Imation, Maxell, and Panasonic, alleging that the defendants’ Blu-Ray recordable (BD-R) and rewritable (BD-RE) discs infringe a patent related to storing data on optical discs. Advanced Optical Tracking has filed six prior suits since October 2012 against MAM-A, Primera Technology, Philips, Sharp, Sony, and the Symmetry Group. The patent-in-suit was issued to DPHI Acquisitions (d/b/a Dataplay) in January 2006 and later assigned to Enhanced Data Solutions in June 2012. In September 2012, Enhanced Data Solutions transferred the patent to Advanced Optical Tracking. 11/2, District of Delaware, no judge yet assigned, 1:2012cv01383; 1:2012cv01384; 1:2012cv01385.
